Dear Mr. Blackstone,

My name is Lin Jun Jie and I currently undertaking a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in telematics at Singapore Institute of Technology(SIT). I graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnics(Np) with a diploma in Mechanical Engineering. During my year in Np, I have learned computer programming and much technical skill such welding and computer numerical control (CNC) machine. During our final project, we used all our skill and knowledge to create a go-kart that runs purely on electricity from scratch.

I studied engineering at Polytechnic, and the course itself does not have high requirements and standard for English and presentation. During my 3 years of polytechnics life, the presentation I ever did is just within the class only. Due to lack of practice, my English and communication skills are rather average. Throughout the two years of national service(ns), my English has gone from bad to worse. I am also an introvert thus I don’t have much contact with many people this result in me getting nervous when presenting or even just standing in front of the crowd.

I fear I will have problems integrating into the workforce after university as I am weak at communicating and my presentation and report writing skills are not very good.

In conclusion, I hope to improve my communication skills. My drop in English standard is due to my tendency of using Chinese as both my parents tend to use Chinese. Thus, I wish to improve all my communication weakness throughout this course.

Regards.

Lin Jun Jie
